Designed for both beginners and experienced users, this streamlined process guarantees your wallet is ready in approximately 15 minutes.
Visit the official Trezor Start page to download the Trezor Suite application compatible with your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux). This software facilitates communication between your hardware wallet and your computer, providing a secure and feature-rich interface for managing your crypto portfolio. Follow installation prompts to complete setup before connecting your device.
Use the supplied USB cable to connect your Trezor Model T, Model One, or Safe series hardware wallet to your computer. Once connected, the Trezor Suite will recognize your device and prompt you to install or update the firmware. Firmware ensures your device has the latest security improvements and features.
Important: Only download firmware updates from official Trezor sources to prevent malicious attacks or compromised devices.
The Trezor Suite will guide you step-by-step through the firmware installation process. Click the button when available and follow on-screen instructions.
After successfully installing or updating firmware, the device will display a confirmation screen - select to proceed to wallet setup.
New users should select Create new wallet to initialize a fresh crypto wallet. If you already have a wallet backup, select Recover wallet to restore access with your recovery seed phrase.
When creating a new wallet, you'll be prompted to choose your backup method:
This guide focuses on the Standard seed backup, best suited for most users to ensure strong security and simplicity.
To protect against unauthorized access, set a robust PIN on your device. You'll select digits on the Trezor's touchscreen following randomized layouts to prevent potential observation by third parties.
Remember, your PIN adds a vital security layer and is required each time you use your Trezor for transactions or management.
Your recovery seed is the most important security element - it restores your wallet if your device is lost or damaged. Carefully write down the displayed 24-word phrase on the physical backup card provided with your Trezor, and keep it in a secure, offline location.
Important Security Tip: Never digitize or share your recovery seed online to avoid theft or loss of funds.
In Trezor Suite, you can select which cryptocurrencies you want visible and manageable by your wallet. This flexible feature lets you customize your dashboard and optimize your portfolio management experience.
You can change active coins anytime later in Settings to add or remove supported assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and many more.
Once you’ve finished device setup, backup, PIN creation, and coin selection, click to finalize. You can optionally name your device and customize the homescreen wallpaper for a personalized touch.
Click to enter the main Trezor Suite interface where you can securely send, receive, exchange, and monitor your crypto assets with peace of mind.
By following these clear steps using Trezor.io/Start®, you ensure your hardware wallet is fully secure and operational. Your private keys never leave the device, and with PIN protection plus backup recovery, your crypto assets remain safe from online threats.
